Eric Protein Moseley’s Recipe for Recovery — Rebooting Your Mind Back to a Good Place
Recovery isn’t just about quitting substances.
It’s about rewiring your mind to find peace, strength, and purpose, even when life feels like it’s falling apart.
I call this rebooting your mind.
Like restarting a frozen computer, sometimes you have to reset your thoughts, beliefs, and habits to get back to a place where healing can begin.
Here’s my recipe — a real, no-BS guide to reboot your mind and find your way back to a good place:
1. Start With Honesty
Be real with yourself.
No more hiding behind excuses or pretending everything’s fine.
Admit where you are — the pain, the struggles, the fears.
Honesty isn’t weakness. It’s the first step to taking control.
2. Feed Your Mind Right
What you think about grows. So what are you feeding your brain?
Replace the negative thoughts that trap you with positive, realistic truths.
Read books. Listen to stories of survival. Watch films that inspire.
You don’t have to be perfect — just open to new ideas that help you grow.
3. Create a Daily Routine
Structure saves lives.
Wake up at the same time.
Eat healthy. Move your body.
Set small goals every day.
Even when motivation is low, a routine helps you stay moving forward.
4. Find Your Tribe
Recovery is hard alone.
Surround yourself with people who get it — who support your healing, who lift you instead of tearing you down.
If you can’t find them nearby, seek online communities or support groups.
5. Practice Self-Compassion
You’re going to mess up.
You’re going to face triggers and setbacks.
That doesn’t mean failure — it means you’re human.
Be kind to yourself the way you would a friend in pain.
6. Keep Your Eyes on the Prize
Recovery is a journey, not a destination.
Celebrate every small win.
Remember why you started.
Remember the life you want for yourself, for your family, for your future.
My Story: From Homelessness to Global Impact
God allowed me to live through nearly two decades of homelessness, addiction, and raising my daughter alone as a single parent.
I lived in shelters, on the streets, and in other people’s houses.
I overdosed. I broke. I lost hope more than once.
But I wasn’t abandoned. I was being rebuilt.
Through faith, hard truth, and relentless work, I emerged as an internationally recognized homeless activist, a published writer, and a documentary filmmaker.
I founded two global campaigns to give voice and power to the unhoused:
Mandate Future Politicians to Prioritize Homelessness — urging voters and lawmakers to make homelessness a central political issue.
Homeless Voices Matter — demanding that society listen to the lived experiences of those currently or formerly unhoused, because no one understands homelessness better than the people who’ve lived through it.
These campaigns have reached from the streets of Skid Row to South Carolina, from Michigan to Mozambique, echoing across borders and systems, calling the world to listen, act, and change.
